Son Matthew helps reposition - Catalina Island
Lionel and I began our sailing experience at a SF sailing school.  It was instant love.  I loved the excitement and he loved the science of the sail.

Within the year, we purchased a 1977 Catalina 25 and began to sharpen our skills on a nearby lake while frequently sailing in the SF bay as well.

We purchased a Jeanneau 40 in 1999 and put it in our sailing school's fleet for charter.  In 2000 my husband and eldest son, Jonathan, through our sailing school, entered the Pac Cup and sailed to Hawaii.  Jonathan would do that sail again in 2002.  We sailed to Cabo in the 2002 Ba Ha Ha with both of our sons.  Times in between would find us chartering in the Caribbean where Lionel's eldest daughter lives.

Wanting the comfort of a pilot house type boat which the Jeaneau did not offer, Lionel found Kathleen for sale.  Unwilling to buy another big boat until the Jeanneau was sold, I opted out of financial commitment.  Another offer was accepted for her and I watched my husband struggle with loosing his dream boat.  While out of town one weekend a month later, my cell phone rang and it was our boat broker.  The sale on Kathleen had fallen apart and he wanted to know if we were still interested.  Sitting outside a restaurant in Monterey, we decided to go out on a limb and  committed to her purchase over the phone.  I had yet to see  her for myself so we flew down the next weekend.  My husband had been absolutely right, she was perfect for us!
Kevin's mom, Debbie, and grandmother and grandfather flew in to celebrate Kevin's graduation from CMA.  Awesome family - incredible weekend!
Scupper got a victory hug too!
Kevin and friend, Jessica.
It's 7 am and we are hauling the boat.  My husband and son laughed at me boiling water in Freedom minutes before having to vacate her,  to make drip coffee the "poor" college way....  Just look who's holding those coffee mugs and smiling!  Scupper's feet were to be black within another hour.
Dr. Rachel and her 22 year old cat, Princess, join me for my birthday weekend.  Nestled in the quarter berth, the two had a quiet week together.  Princess would join the angels a few weeks later.
